I made this video almost 1 year ago, after I heard about the sad news of Dr. Israel Bactol's passing. He was one of the first casualties of COVID-19 among healthcare workers in the Philippines. A hero gone too soon.

Dr. Israel is a young aspiring cardiologist from the Philippine Heart Center, a native of Nueva Ecija, (a province in Central Luzon) who worked against all odds to become a doctor. He proudly served as a Doctor to the Barrios in Mindoro and Nueva Ecija before deciding to specialize in cardiology. His family, friends and patients cherished his presence. Sadly, I never met him as our career paths diverged very early on. But the message his life so well-lived gave me the courage to rise above my fear during the early days of the pandemic and find a way to help.

This video in Filipino, dedicated to my kababayans in the world, was my first step out of darkness.
